Hot off the press! News you will appreciate if you also enjoy amazing crochet patterns (cut and pasted straight from our announcement on Ravelry):
We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the latest magazine in the KAL Media portfolio, Inside Crochet.
Edited by Julie Holetz and Amy O’Neill Houck, the magazine will be launched on 27th March and published bi-monthly.
Pre-orders and subscriptions are available now from the website www.insidecrochet.co.uk.
More details to follow shortly.
I’ve worked with both Julie and Amy for a number of years. They are VERY talented (Julie is hands down the best technical editor for crochet that I know), have excellent connections in the design world and — from what I’ve seen so far — they’ll be bringing you some amazing crochet! Congrats to everyone on our new launch, and congrats to me for not spilling the beans accidentally…it was really tough to keep news this great under wraps!

I’ve been trying since March 27th to find Inside Crochet but without success. Not even WHSmiths had it. Where can I buy it? I live in Derby, UK.

is this magazine available in Ireland?

I actually stumbled on it at a newsagent today(I live in Malta, so I guess you’ll be able to find it throughout the UK!!). It looks quite promising, and there are quite a few interesting projects even though there are a bit too many granny squares for my likes.
Still, thumbs up for this magazine

I recently purchased your magazine Inside Crochet from my local book store in Mandeville, Louisiana, USA. I have a question about the instructions on page l6, Strawberry Shortcake. After the words All sizes it states “Base starting db-ch, 26 db-ch, turn”. Can you explain this in USA terminology for crocheting.
Thank You in advance.

Fay,
Hi there - I am the designer of Strawberry Shortcake (although, GAH I hate that name - the magazine picked it and it pains me to even have to type it…!).
‘db-ch’ is the abbreviation for the Double Base Chain, an alternative to the standard foundation chain that provides extra stretch and stability. Within the magazine, the instructions for the db-ch are given in the sidebar on page 18. You can also view my video stitch guides for this stitch here (fyi - the videos do not have any sound):
Double Base Chain (right-handed)
Double Base Chain (left-handed)

As a lefthander, it is wonderful to see instructions for us. Usually, the instructions just say, ‘for lefthanders just reverse all the instructions’ and for beginners this is quite difficult.
Good luck with the magazine.

I haven’t seen this magazine yet, but I am officially on the lookout! Out of curiosity, will all the patterns be in UK terminology?

I purchased this mag 2 weeks ago at Chapters in London, Ontario, Canada. I am just revisiting this craft after sometime. Great pictures and lots of instruction. It is also wonderful that it is from the UK, as am I - originally and although it was costly, it was superior to others I browsed through. Cheers!

I have had issue 1 of Inside Crochet but cant find issue 2 anywhere; we have tried all the usual places and there is no sign of it at all. Are there probs with distribution - just knowing anything would be helpful.

Hi Fay, I think the db-cb is the foundation single crochet in US terminology. I could not watch the video, but from the instructions, it looked to me like like the foundation single crochet. Hope this helps! If you google it under foundation single crochet, you will find a photo tutorial with instructions.

I love the new mag, however, I need to put in my two cents! The patterns are amazing, very stylish and well written. My request, can you in your yarn section, put in the international (?) symbol for yarn sizing (ie 1 through 5). It would help those of use who love great yarn, but must shop at the local stores. Also, are subscriptions available in the U.S.?
Thank you!
